The First Supper

before, during, and after:

Chase is now officially part of the big boy's club. He has successfuly eaten a few tablespoons of rice cereal three times. The first time was a 50/50 experience. Most of it ended up on him and the high chair. He gagged once, made 10 icky faces, but in the end mastered chewing and the new prospect of not sucking for food. Here is a Before During and After pic plus a couple cute ones.

An Ode to Nana on Her Birthday

My Nana

My nana is Oh Susannah

And she always has my favorite toys

And tells me I am the best out of all little boys

Oh' Susannah is my nana,

She gives me hugs and kisses all day long

She knows how to make me giggle every time she sings the Gimpy song

I love my nana, Ms. OH Susannah

She makes me giggle and coo

Is their nothing this wonderful nana can't do?

Happy Easter!!!

I woke up just before my boys on Easter morning and quietly made sure the Easter Bunny had left Chase his first Easter basket. It was a firetruck basket filled with an Easter book, some sandals, sunglasses, and a big stuffed chick for him to cuddle with. Chase didn't seem all to amused, but Ernie loved the basket! Go figure! After getting the three of us ready we headed out to church and it was a great service. Ernie and I both felt like it had spoke to us and were pleased we started the day that way. Soon after Ernie's mom, brother, sister, her husband, and their child came over to our house to spend time together before going out for brunch. It was neat seeing her son Troy, (14 months), checking out Chase. One day they will be partners in crime!

Sleep is overrated

At first I was jealous of everyone who slept at night. And now, now I am just over it. Sleep is for those who have nothing better to do. I for one, have given up on sleeping. "Oh it will get better," they say. "Is he having a growth spurt?" "Did you eat broccoli?" "Let him cry it out!" "Is he too hot/cold/hungry/not hungry/teething/gassy/______ (insert your suggestion here.)?" NO! He just wants me to give up everything for him! Including my sanity! He will sleep for an hour or so at a time and than scream right when it's getting to the good part in my dream. Like he knows. The one joy I still get out of sleeping is when we finally get up in the morning and he slowly opens up those big ol eyes and gives me the biggest smile. Right when I think I am going to lose my mind all together, he makes it all go away in one second. Like he knows.

St. Patty's Day

Happy St. Patty's Day!!! (A day late)

We celebrated Chase's first Irish holiday by taking a mini road trip to Monterey. We spent the day walking around the aquarium and at fisherman's wharf. Chase loved looking in the fish tanks and was mesmerized. Looks like a fish tank will be the next purchase for our family! It was a beautiful day over here and a perfect little holiday for the Bauen family.

Mommyhood

Being Chase's mommy has to be the best job in the world. He is now 4 and a half months and such a little bruiser! He is just about 20 lbs and is still growing! As of this last week Chase has rolled over and discovered that he has feet. It's so cool watching him check out the world around him. He has became so curious about everything. One of his favorite games is looking in the mirror and playing peek-a-boo with himself! Unfortunately, he isn't sleeping through the night yet, but we are adding solid foods soon, so we hope that will help.
